50 Years of Polomka: Anniversary Celebration with President Peter Pellegrini
A special day for myWood Polomka Timber: On October 9, 2026, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our production site in Polomka. To mark the occasion, we had the honor of personally welcoming Peter Pellegrini, President of the Slovak Republic.
Together with invited guests from the business and political worlds, as well as long-time companions, we looked back on the site’s development and turned our attention to its future.
President Pellegrini visits Polomka
The Slovak president’s visit lent a special significance to the anniversary celebration. In his speech, Peter Pellegrini acknowledged the plant’s economic importance to the Horehronie region and particularly highlighted the investments in modern technologies, energy efficiency, and sustainable production processes.
Following the official ceremony, the president toured the production facilities and learned about the manufacturing processes and the company’s ongoing development.
A look back and future perspectives
The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to look back on five decades of industrial wood processing in Polomka. For more than two decades, the production has been closely associated with the Rettenmeier family, which has continuously driven its development.
In addition to the historical retrospective, the focus was on current investments and the future of the plant. Through the modernization of production as well as investments in solar energy, battery storage, and a modern energy infrastructure, myWood aims to position the site for long-term competitiveness and sustainability.
The anniversary celebration thus underscored not only the long tradition of wood processing in Polomka but also the clear commitment to the site’s continued development.
We would like to thank President Peter Pellegrini for his visit and all the guests who celebrated this special occasion with us.
